When attempting to send an email with large attachments, the message always gets rejected by the recipient's ISP. Any suggestions?

If you use Microsoft Outlook 98 or later, you may wish to break up a large message when sending, to get around the message size limitation set by your recipients' ISP. As a courtesy, we will provide an outline (with screen shots) below as to how to do so, using Microsoft Outlook 2000 as example:

  1. On the Tools menu-->click accounts (screen shot).
  2. Click the "Mail" tab --> highlight the account you want to change and click the "Properties" button. (screen shot).
  3. Click the "Advanced" tab. (screen shot).
  4. Select the Break apart messages check box (screen shot).
  5. Enter a larger than what is the box, the maximum is 99999kb (97MB!). NEVER SET IT THAT HIGH! 3000kb-5000kb (i.e. 3-5MB) are more reasonable! (screen shot).
  6. Click the "Apply" and "OK" button.

A much better way, is for both you and your correspondents to learn how to send large files to someone with the right approach.
