What is the default account?

The "default" account is a special "catch-all" or "fall-back" account. Any message sent to your domain but for which no defined email accounts exist, (i.e. you did not define a POP box or redirect account) is automatically delivered to the "default" account, and is further processed according the delievery option(s) set up there.

For example, suppose someone sends a message to poolboy@yourdomain.com, but there is no such a mailbox by that name, then that message would be delivered to the default email box.

A few things to note:

• For any new hosting account, AZC sets up the default account as a redirection account using the contact email address that is provided to AZC by the customer.
• However, you can change the default account to any other type of email accounts that AZC supports.
• Unfortunately, given the sad fact that nowadays spammers often send random spam to a domain, it might be a good idea to set up the default account as a sort of "shredder" as soon as you have set up other desired accounts. See the MailTool for details.
